Lily, Agyness and Kylie Party in Recession-Free Dubai

A-listers were out in force last night for the lavish opening of the Atlantis Palm Resort and Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, with Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton and Mary-Kate Olson slipping on their gladrags. Us Brits were represented by a suave Gerard Butler, glittering Agyness Deyn and graceful Lily Allen, who left the balloons at home and accessorised with Rhys Ifans and a reported £5 million of Chopard jewellery. Wowzers. Kylie Mingoue picked up a big pay cheque for her 60-minute performance, and the whole event cost £15 million. Recession, what recession?

Lovely Kylie Minogue was getting a whole lot of male attention in Argentina yesterday, as men jumped on each other's backs to get a glimpse at the pop princess. She's over there on tour at the moment, and stepped out for a little shopping on her day off. The latest rumours are that Kylie is to host the 2009 Brit Awards alongside the hilarious James Corden and Mathew Horne of Gavin & Stacey fame.

Kylie worked with Mathew on The Kylie Show at the end of 2007, where he played her assistant in the comedy skits between songs. I think this sounds like a great presenting team, but what do you think? Does this whet your appetite for The Brit Awards?

Kylie Minogue was in Paris today for lunch with French designer Jean Paul Gaultier. I love her casual look, the off the shoulder top and fringed boots are oh-so-casual, yet just smart enough, right? Kylie's been speaking out about her style secrets, as well as her thoughts that she's not destined to get married and have children — she said:

"There are days when I think, actually, that’s not the right path for me, I never really felt I was made for an ordinary life, like a husband and a terraced house in the suburbs. A great dream of mine is to be in a film musical, I know it would be such a fun challenge. It would incorporate so many different aspects of what I already do."

She was fun in her brief appearance in Moulin Rouge, so I'd love to see her in a bigger part in a musical in the future!

That trio of trouble, Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof and Alice Dellal, were also at the party and even took to the DJ decks. Looks like a fun way to bring Paris Fashion Week to a close. Having completed her mammoth tour a few weeks ago, Kylie Minogue is making the most of her free time by dining at Nobu with Scissor Sisters' frontman Jake. The petite singer isn't putting KYLIEX2008 to rest just yet though, announcing she will be taking the show to South America. She's also taking it to Australia and New Zealand in December, saying it's "a real thrill to finally be bringing it home". Perfectionist Kylie has also spoken out about her disappointment with latest album, X, saying: "In retrospect we could definitely have bettered it". Don't be too hard on yourself Kylie — your sister may have the X Factor but you've still got the "wow" factor.

I love these pics of Steve Jones, they make me laugh. But why is he dressed as a builder? Well, tonight 4Music launches as a spangly new channel, featuring music shows, exclusives, festival coverage (V is featured this weekend) and artist interviews alongside the usual fare of vids and countdowns. Tonight lovely Steve and Davina McCall will kick off proceedings with their 20 Big Ones which sees Steve dressing up as a "camp builder" – a male version of those under-dressed women in Benny Benassi’s "Satisfaction" vid. Nice. Here's what Steve and Davina had to say about the launch:

Can you describe your opening show on 4Music?
Steve: "Think of Steve and Davina’s Big Ones as two hours of music labour where at the end where we give birth to Kylie Minogue (in concert – the world exclusive of KYLIEX2008 at 9pm). But without the pain."
What’s it like working with each other again (after last year's Big Brother special)?
Steve: "For me and Davina to present the first show... it’s a true honour. I love working with Davina and really enjoy being on screen with her."
Davina: "I love Steve! He make it so easy and we’ve just got a very good rapport, the more I work with him the better it gets. I do hope I get to work with him again."

While there were rumours that Kylie had arranged a private box for Prince Charles to watch one of her shows at the O2 Arena, her alleged on-off lover Alexander Dahm was treated to a VIP seat instead, and flew 6,000 miles for the performance.

Kylie's continuing to impress during her KYLIEX2008 tour, making one young fan's night by inviting her on stage. When Kylie starts her London leg she may get the opportunity to invite a rather famous face up on stage, as rumours suggest she has arranged for a private box to be made available for Prince Charles and Camilla following her OBE appointment. Now that would be a "Wow" moment.

Kylie Minogue Adds OBE to Her Starry Collection

Kylie Minogue was appointed OBE by Prince Charles for services to music at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Her family was by her side, including Dannii, who rushed from X Factor auditions to be a part of the special day. It's quite the year of accolades for the 40-year-old, having been made a Knight in the Order Of Arts And Letters in May for her contribution to the enrichment of French culture. The majority of you prefer Kylie in her off-stage clothes and she made me even more envious of her wardrobe by wearing a gorgeous star-covered YSL dress. She said:

"I knew I would be nervous. I was very excited and to have my family here was magical... I do feel very proud. I think my job, aside from making music, is about communication and this symbolises my communication with my audience around the world".

She also said she was "slightly less nervous" about meeting Prince Charles as they had met before: "He asked me what I'm up to at the moment and said he is happy to see me better". Good old Charles. Congratulations Kylie!

Miss Minogue in Moscow

Even with all the excitement of her 40th birthday a few weeks ago, Kylie Minogue has been kept busy on her KYLIEX2008 tour but it's not all work and no play for the singer. During her stay in Russia this week Kylie found the time to go sightseeing in Moscow's Red Square and showed how she's just like the rest of us when she does the tourist thing, by getting her photo taken in front of the beautiful sights. That's a beautiful belt, too. The pop princess will be arriving on our shores for the UK leg of her tour next week, going from Northern Ireland to Scotland and then to England, taking her right through July into August. Can't wait to see Kylie out and about in our neck of the woods throughout the summer!
