Pop Watch: Little Dorrit, Episode One

Last night saw the first installment of Little Dorrit hit our TV screens, with lots of characters and storylines introduced in the special one-hour episode. The series will continue in easier-to-manage half hour slots twice weekly, as the various strands start to come together. This opening scene-setter was a bit tricky to follow in places, but the different plots were held together by the overarching theme of imprisonment, both literal and metaphorical. Remind yourself who's who by taking a look at my slideshow of characters, and then relive last night's episode with me in my recap here.

Amy "Little" Dorrit (Claire Foy) is at the centre of the story, and the opening scene shows her birth in Marshalsea debtors' prison in 1805. Fast forward 21 years and we see adult Amy heading off for a job with Mrs Clennam (Judy Parfitt). The Miss Havisham-esque wheelchair-bound woman hasn't left her dark depressing house for 12 years, and lives with her wonderfully unpleasant servant Jeremiah Flintwinch (Alun Armstrong), who's all growls and aggression, particularly towards his nervous yet kindly wife Affery (Sue Johnston). The first hint of mystery comes when Mrs Clennam tells Flintwinch Amy is coming, but he should "tell her nothing".

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Eight

So the second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl came to an end last night. In the season that saw Billie Piper have to cover up her growing baby bump, it's fitting that the actress should give birth to her son in the week the series ends. Congrats Billie!

Enough of Bille, though: let's get back to Belle. The episode starts with Belle brushing her teeth next to Alex, so the making up that started in last week's episode has obviously been going well. She thinks to herself this could be it; this could be enough for the rest of her life. Hmm, methinks it won't be as easy as that. Madame Stephanie rings the buzzer offering Belle £1,000 for one last job, but she turns her down. The couple leave for work and as soon as Alex disappears Belle sneaks back into her flat, as she's quit her job. Rebuilding the relationship with lies isn't going to work now, is it?

Pop Watch: Lipstick Jungle, Episode Five, "Dressed to Kill"

This week each of our main Lipstick Jungle characters messed around in someone else's business (or had someone else mess around in theirs). Victory's ex-assistant came back to make Victory's life miserable, Wendy tried to kick-start her husband's music career, and Nico and Kirby continued alternately embracing and stomping all over each other's hearts. And that was just the basics.

We saw the result of Victory's assistant stealing her sketches! I loved the scene with her banging on the window of the store, yelling "Those are my dresses!" as very confused Joe tried to figure out what on earth was going on. "And they will be. Tomorrow. I'll even throw in a handbag!" Hmm, you've got the wrong end of the stick there Joe.
Also, nice airing for the "fashion design isn't considered art, so it's not protected under copyright law" debate.
Colour me relieved when I realised Reese was lying in the scene where she apologised to Victory, because otherwise, she would be the worst actress on earth. Luckily, she was supposed to be bad.

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Seven

Last night's episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl was the funniest installment so far, with some great one-liners from Belle and Ben, as Belle attempts to leave escort work for an office job to win Alex back, but the love triangle gets even more complicated.

Episode seven starts with Belle packing away all her sex-related outfits and toys because she's "going straight". She meets up with Ben and tells him she's got herself a proper job. When he tries to bring up the fact they had sex in the previous episode, she says it was a mistake and they should forget about it. Ben obviously doesn't want to forget about it. He definitely loves her.

Pop Watch: One Tree Hill — The Complete Season Five

One Tree Hill is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's not an amazingly accomplished TV show, and I always preferred the shorter-spanning The OC, but it has enough elements that make it really entertaining on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The fifth season of the show has been released on DVD this month — a season that marked a quick about turn in the show's storylines. Basically, having followed the teens through school years over the previous four seasons, the fifth season skipped four years into the future, taking the characters closer to the actors' real ages. We saw Lucas, Nathan, Peyton, Brooke, Mouth and Hayley's new lives, loves, careers and frustrations.

This time skip gave the show a new lease of life, and allowed pantomime villian evil Dan to be released from prison during the season, having served a few years time. It also allowed Nathan and Hayley's adorable Jonathan Lipnicki-alike son Jamie to have grown a few years, and for them all to have reached for the stars and either succeeded or failed, with bonus stories to tell.

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Six

Last night's episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl gave us quite a bit of action as well as an array of fancy dress costumes (with a sex party twist, naturally). My request last week for Bambi to return was answered, and she was the star of the show for me.

So episode six begins with Belle meeting up with her former madame, Stephanie (played by Cherie Lunghi, who is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing). After her messy breakup with Alex Belle wants to throw herself into her work, so Stephanie sends her and Bambi off to a diplomat's party in the country. When they arrive they're met by a group of poshos in fairy tale themed fancy dress, and change into their costumes: Rapunzel for Belle, and Little Red Riding Hood for Bambi.

Pop Watch: Lipstick Jungle, Episode 3, "Pink Poison"

I'm still liking Lipstick Jungle more and more each week, though I still think it's trying a little too hard. I'm still not absolutely loving Victory's scenes, but she and the show is growing on me. Wendy had some good moments, and Nico's affair took a nasty turn. Make sure you don't miss Fab and Bella's fashion and beauty quiz about the show, but first, here's more of my thoughts:

Robert Buckley has become my premiere TV crush, just saying. How gorgeous is he in this show?!
My favourite lines last night came from Maddie, like this one — "And the person who cuts my hair? Also cuts Sarah Michelle Gellar's"
It was so random but funny that they made Brooke Shields' feet into a plot point: Wendy doesn't try on shoes in public because people "marvel at how big they are." Amusing!

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Five

So it all gets pretty intense in this week's installment of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Without wanting to give too much away, there's a big revelation for one of the regular characters, and the aftershocks are devastating for another. The episode is Bambi-less which is a shame, as I've been intrigued about her character since episode three. I never thought I'd say it, but bring back Bambi next week please!

Episode five begins much like episode four, with Belle in bed with young attractive Alex, but this time she's thinking that she'll tell him the truth about her profession today. Alex wakes up and wanders around the flat swearing, which is totally random but funny! Staying true to her word, Belle asks Alex if he'd like to finally visit her place that afternoon, but he's working so they'll have to do it the next day instead. He then invites her to his boss's party that weekend, but Belle says she'll have to wait and see. Looks like she's veering between wanting to be open, and being concerned about the relationship getting so serious. This has got to all end in tears, hasn't it?

Pop Watch: Lipstick Jungle, Episode 2 "Nothing Sacred"

We're now two episodes in, and I've got to say I'm warming up to Lipstick Jungle a little more. I did find my attention drifting a couple of times, but... well... then Kirby and his hot body arrived and everything was OK. There are a whole bunch of strands that I liked about the episode, and the show looks like it's capable of sustaining a plot line week to week, so I'm definitely carrying on with this New York-set series! Here's some of my thoughts on the second episode:

Wendy's character troubled me a little in this episode. I really like Wendy and I do feel a lot of sympathy for her. Basically — she does not seem to be the kind of person who deserves to have an expose written about her.
They kept telling us that Wendy is a heartless ice queen, but she seems like the opposite of that to me. We saw her in the last episode as a hugging executive, a good mother, and a tough negotiator, but not somebody harsh or ridiculously self-involved the way this book made her out to be. I realise it would have been exaggerated, but... it still didn't quite work for me. In the context of the show it's hard not to be on Wendy's side, to the point that I find it hard to understand why anybody wouldn't like her (Example? Even her own daughter said, "You have enemies? Sweet!").

We get a ridiculous threesome, an awkward meeting between the boyfriend and the best friend, and a leopard print thong in this week's installment of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. All in a normal day's work for an independent escort, it seems.

Episode four starts off with Belle in bed with young attractive Alex, thinking to herself how complicated sex has become. Looking at the clock, Belle realises she's going to be late for her client — the first one in six days — and gives a funny excuse to Alex about meeting a made up friend called Jemima for lunch who is in fact so horrible he shouldn't go with her. Belle certainly has the capacity to think on her feet, but her lies must surely be making Alex suspicious by now.

Pop Watch: Lost In Austen, Episode Four

Last night's final episode of Lost In Austen was full to the brim, giving us yet more action and tying up lots of loose ends. The action even moves to the present day, but I'm glad the majority of the finale focuses on the world of Pride and Prejudice.

So the episode begins with Amanda distraught over Darcy's rejection. Within minutes, Darcy announces his engagement to Caroline Bingley (who we know has no interest in him, or any other man for that matter). Mrs Bennet runs from the room in tears, but not over their announcement; she's just found out Lydia and Bingley have run off to Hammersmith to sample this brave new world Amanda talks about, in the hopes of beating their ennui. As Amanda says, it should be Wickham, and we have another departure from the plot of Jane Austen's novel. How will this all turn out?

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Three

Last night's installment of Secret Diary of a Call Girl shows us what happens when a client's wife finds out about the "other woman" that Belle is paid to be, and we also get to see Belle's complicated relationship with young attractive Alex develop further.

The episode starts with Belle/Hannah on a Saturday afternoon date at the movies with Alex. She doesn't know how to behave and is suitably awkward, although not quite so much as that hilarious first date in episode two. Belle doesn't know how to be a girlfriend, even though she gets paid £400 for the GFE — Girlfriend Experience — which involves chatting and cuddling. Her next client, Tony, is one of these GFE types, but things get tricky when his wife turns up on Belle's doorstep. Uh-oh.

Pop Watch: Lost In Austen, Episode Three

Wowzers, the third installment of Lost In Austen certainly packs a huge amount in. The action moves from Longbourn to Rosings to Pemberley; there's the requisite shirtless Darcy scene; and we get more alternative versions of Pride and Prejudice when Caroline Bingley and Georgiana Darcy make some startling revelations.

The episode begins with a series of unhappy events: Amanda tries to get back through the door, but to no avail; Mr Bennet, who is sleeping in the libarary, tells Mrs Bennet how angry he is about Jane's situation; and poor Jane is stuck with creepy Mr Collins. Fortunately, he is in a “period of abstinence” so they haven’t done the deed yet. Could an annulment be a possible way for Jane to escape his clutches? We cut to Bingley telling Darcy he still loves Jane — is there hope for their happy ending?

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. Two

The second episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl packed a lot in, giving us an amusing first date, a dangerous encounter and plenty of shots of Belle's breasts (although pregnant Billie Piper used body doubles for a lot of the nude scenes).

The episode starts with Belle at the plastic surgeon's office, considering whether or not to have a boob job. The doctor and nurse tell her she has "tuberous breasts", which means they're long rather than round and pert — way to make a woman feel great about her body, right? It turns out the plastic surgeon is a client of Belle's, and he arranges to see her. Belle's in two minds about whether to have the operation, but muses that if she did go ahead at least she could claim it back against tax. Heh.

Pop Watch: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Season Two, Ep. One

Billie Piper is back as upmarket escort Belle de Jour in the second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Belle is now an independent escort, who finds herself mentoring new girl Bambi while she continues to struggle with her dual life as Belle/Hannah.

If you didn't see the first series then you can check out a preview to get a feel for the concept courtesy of my girl Buzz, as the show premiered in the States just a couple of months ago. Here in the UK we're on to season two already woop! The format has stayed the same, with Belle taking directly to the camera, a technique used to help bring the voice of the real life diaries on which it is based to the screen. We get some great Hotel Babylon-esque speeded up shots of London, which I love, and there's also a new love interest on the scene.

Pop Watch: Lost In Austen, Episode Two

After last week's scene-setting opening episode, last night's installment of Lost In Austen picks up the pace and stays entirely in the world of the book. We meet the wicked Wickham, and see some interesting departures from the plot of Pride and Prejudice when modern day Amanda manages to mess up crucial situations.

The episode starts at Netherfield, and Amanda aiding Jane's recovery by slipping her a paracetamol. When Bingley makes his interest in our modern day heroine known again, Amanda manages to wriggle out of the awkward situation by telling him she's interested in women. I'm not expecting any Sarah Waters-esque exploration of female sexuality to develop from this, but it would be fun if it did!

Pop Watch: Lost In Austen, Episode One

ITV’s four-part drama Lost In Austen kicked off last night, with modern day Amanda walking into the world of Jane Austen. I gave you some details about the premise yesterday, and the majority of you were interested. For those of you who missed it, or want your memory refreshed, here's what went down in the first installment.

It starts with Amanda explaining how she loves to escape into Pride & Prejudice and we soon see why, when her boyfriend (who’s cheated on her) drunkenly proposes and her newly divorced mother tells her to accept, since no-one will live up to the “standards” she’s adopted from her favourite novel. So when Elizabeth Bennet arrives in her bathroom, it’s no surprise that Amanda is thrilled to meet her heroine. When the women swaps places, however, things start to get more complicated.

Pop Watch – Spooks: Code 9, Episode Four

So this week's episode of Spooks: Code 9 wasn't great. Last week's episode had Jody Latham to add some interest, this week's episode sadly revolved around fembot Rachel and her "dead behind the eyes" stare. She's sucking the life out of Charlie too, slowly but surely. Anyhow, you can read my thoughts below and be sure to let me know what you think!

So we start with an ad for Reconnected UK – a private business set up to rival the official Missing Persons service following the blast.
Out of the blue, a dead body falls out onto car with note on it saying MI5 Informer. Turns out the informers are dropping like flies. Therefore the informers are afraid to speak to our team of young agents...
Rachel the fembot goes undercover, and only Charlie knows. The rest of the team think she's in hospital after a "stabbing" at Vik's birthday party. She's actually investigating all the Hannah stuff, trying to find out who "the Ghostman" is...

Pop Watch – Spooks: Code 9, Episode 3

The adorable Jody Latham (Lip from Shameless) guest-starred in last night's episode of Spooks: Code 9 which made me rather happy. I thought it was the best episode yet, and it's repeated on BBC3 this week if you missed it. Of course, you can also catch in on iPlayer too. Here's my thoughts:

After the blast there's been a whole new black market for radiation sickness pills – people are convinced they've got radiation sickness even if not diagnosed. Prevalence of hypochondria. People desperate to get them, with mothers giving non-prescribed pills to children despite health warnings.
Dad of the group Charlie is all serious about this latest mission to find the source of the pills. The rest of our group of young MI5 agents are laughing about the mission. Charlie's feeling the responsibility. Like all good missions, this one starts at a club with the triangle between Rachel, Rob and Charlie being focused on. Is Rob's jealousy going to compromise his position at some point?
Whilst the gang are partying, a couple of policemen are shot in an area they were wary of going into. Prospect Towers is the place – a housing development which has its own rules. The CCTV put in by police has been destroyed.

Pop Watch – Spooks: Code 9, Episode 2

Last night saw the opening double bill of Spooks: Code 9 on BBC3. I recapped the first episode for you earlier today, but now's time to look back over episode 2's events. I can't wait to read your comments on the episode, but for now here's my thoughts:

We focus in on Jez in the opening moments as he heads over to a woman's house for a booty call. It's intercut with a guy in a temporary morgue at a detention centre at Camp Windesmere, filming the dead bodies within it and their gruesome injuries.
Slightly distracted side-note: Jez's bum is rather nice – more of that please. His "friend" says she's an informer, and asks him if he's breaking rules by sleeping with her. Hmm, I have bad feelings about this.
We see a short video clip of the evacuation technique that's come in post-Code 9. This really reiterates the changing world in 2013, the system reaches peoples phones and warns / updates them on things occurring near them.

Pop Watch – Spooks: Code 9, Episode 1

Wow, Spooks: Code 9 began with some thrills and spills, as well as a rather bleak view of the future of the UK. Code 9 is a nuclear attack in London that happens in 2012, and one year later a crew of six good-looking young people are put together as a new MI5 team to fight the terrorist threat. If you want to find out more about the premise, then check out my introduction to the series, but here's my thoughts on yesterday's opening episode (my thoughts on the second episode will follow this afternoon)!

Right, so in the Code 9 nuclear bomb blast in London over 100,000 people are killed, and even more are dealt a death sentence from the radiation. Bleak.
So here's the team. There's Jez – a former petty criminal – he says he's there because "the straight guys" didn't exactly save the world. So, he's edgy then. I like him though.
Rachel is blonde and beautiful, looks like she's stepped out of a magazine, and apparently used to be a police officer. I'm hoping she'll actually put a little more feeling into her lines as the episode goes on, because... oh sorry, I think I nodded off. But she says something important: terrorists are getting younger which means the MI5 is turning to recruiting younger people to find them, which makes the fact that this new bunch of recruits look like they should be in Hollyoaks or something similar make a little more sense. Not that that's a bad thing...
Rob was a medical student, and seems a touch arrogant to boot? Vik was an entrepreneur who wants to protect the country. And redhead Kylie was in London when the blast hit, she was unhurt but is sick from the radiation. She used to be a psychology student.

Spooks: Code 9 Starts Tonight

Whether or not you've watched Spooks, you might be interested to hear that a spin-off of the show (no knowledge of the original series required) is beginning tonight on BBC3 at 9pm, featuring a young fresh set of cast members. Spooks: Code 9 is set in 2013, one year after a nuclear bomb blast in London that kills thousands and thousands of people. Here's how it's all set up:

In the wake of the attack, MI5 must completely restructure and establish field offices across the UK, working to gather intelligence from the very heart of local communities. They need young, new officers on the ground, and fast. Luckily, Britain’s youth is more than up to the challenge and is fighting back from the attack with a new sense of patriotism, combined with the hedonism that comes from being face to face with their own mortality.

Exciting huh? I've had a sneak peek at the first couple of episodes of the series and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it, if you just can't wait you can watch the first ten minutes here. There are no crossover characters or storylines seeing as this series is set in the future and in a new world. The team are in their early twenties, and you'll probably recognise a few cast members from their previous work. Joanne Froggatt (Hannah) used to be in Coronation Street, Jamie Bell-lookalike Liam Boyle (Charlie) was in Shameless and The Street, Ruta Gedmintas (Rachel) was in The Tudors and Georgia Moffett (Kylie) is in Doctor Who and goes out with David Tennant.

Never fear if you're reading this after Sunday's premiere of two back to back episodes, as it's repeated on BBC3 throughout the week and available on iPlayer, with four episodes to follow in this series. Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 18, "Much 'I Do' About Nothing"

So, last night ITV showed the season finale of Gossip Girl, and... well... I was a little underwhelmed. Yes, there were some great one-liners, a lot of good Chuck moments, and we even witnessed Dan scheming alongside Blair – at first glance, last night's episode was everything we could have asked for from GG, so why did it fall flat for me?

It felt rushed for one thing – I think they actually gave us too much, too fast and didn't leave us with much of a finale cliffhanger. Still, regardless of how anti-climactic many of the scenes felt, there was still a lot that went down and so much we must discuss. And don't forget to take Fab UK's quiz!

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 17 "Woman On The Verge"

After last week's shocking revelation that Serena killed someone, I had a feeling last night's Gossip Girl was going to be a little heavy. My favourite thing about last night was Nate, Chuck, Blair, and Serena coming together to try and sort everything out. I was also pretty happy about getting a break from Jenny following her social rise and fall. Hopefully she'll return refreshed and with a little perspective. Last week I suggested Georgina was mostly driven by craziness, and the opening scene proved me right. The montage of her obsessively calling Serena freaked me out.
Apparently right after Serena told Blair she killed someone, Blair excused herself to grab some Valium to help calm her friend (naturally), and when she returned Serena had left to party again. It's a pattern that's starting to annoy me: Serena lets out a huge secret, then goes on a crazy bender that involves no less than three blokes at a bar.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 16 "Prior Commitments"

Wow, what a season finale! I laughed, I cried, I was shocked and was seriously left wanting more. Just when I thought there couldn't be any more twists, they throw in another huge one that will surely keep us guessing throughout the next installments of Brothers & Sisters. This has been a great season and I can't wait for the third.

This final episode centred around Kevin and Scotty's commitment ceremony, but it still managed to fit in typical Brothers & Sisters plot devices, from the family meeting of the opening scene to the road trip Kevin and Tommy and Justin took. The Rebecca and Justin storyline reached a dizzying climax and another whopping secret about William was unearthed by Sarah and Kevin.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 16 "All About My Brother"

Gossip Girl is just getting better and better — partly due to Georgina, who I'm starting to believe is driven by mental instability and pure evil rather than actual motive. We know, from last week's ep, that whatever secret Serena is carrying will bring G down too. So why would Georgina mess with her own future? And why push Serena that far? She must expect that Serena's too wet to call her bluff. But it wasn't just that mystery that fueled the episode — there were secrets being exposed all over the place. Blair was on fire last night! I loved seeing the many sides of her in one episode – wicked, ruthless, and protective of her friends. I'm so glad she finally went in for the kill. Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 15, "Desperately Seeking Serena"

Last night's episode of Gossip Girl hit pause on the Blair vs. Jenny storyline and made way for badass Georgina Sparks. Woohoo! She started out harmless enough (even a little needy), and it seemed like Serena was just making bad choices that had little to do with the arrival of her old friend. However, considering the packages full of porn and handcuffs Georgina sent last week, we knew things were going to get diabolical fast. I'm so over Jenny's tantrums. Also, I was not loving the dog walker – Asher Hornsby – I don't think he was as hot as Jenny thought. Did any of you get that attraction?
I love scheming Blair! She's so resourceful (and evil) when she needs to be, and her target last night was over-achieving Nelly Yuki, who, like Blair, wants to go to Yale. According to Blair-logic, only one teen from Constance Billard can get into Yale, so naturally she had to sabotage Nelly's SAT performance.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 14 "Double Negative"

Last night's episode of Brothers & Sisters finally gave us the answer to the Rebecca paternity question and about time too! We also got to see all the Walkers come together for a fundraiser and for once they didn't disgrace themselves publicly.

Various partnerships came under the telescope in Episode 14, with Sarah confronting her trust issues with Graham, Kitty and Robert facing the choice between family and ambition, and Justin and Rebecca continuing to dance around their feelings for one another. There were some interesting developments in Kevin and Scotty's relationship too, which provided a hilarious exchange between Justin and Kevin.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 14 "The Blair B*tch Project"

OK, so last night's Gossip Girl was the first after a break in the US – did you notice any differences in the cast's appearances?! While the episode title has Blair's name in it, the night really belonged to Jenny. Who knew she had the cojones to really be a worthy nemesis to Blair? Don't forget to test yourself with Fab UK's fashion quiz, but for now here's more of my thoughts:

Oh, Chuck. He kicked off his new role as brother to Serena by smoking pot in her bathroom, and then responded to Serena's request that, due to them not sharing DNA, he not call her his sister by saying "Then I suggest you get new hand towels." Yuk.
There's a price to be paid when you're "Queen Bee" — Jenny owed one of her new friends $120 for brunch! Ouch. Mind you, there are perks to getting in with this new crew, including her trip to Aspen on a private jet. Not too shabby...

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 13 "Separation Anxiety"

Now we're onto episode 13 of Brothers & Sisters certain storylines are coming to a head, and I'm getting rather excited about the whole Rebecca-paternity-issue. The big bombshell of last night's installment was that Isaac's returning to Washington DC for a Professorship and wants Nora to go with him.

We got straight down to it with a pretty hot and heavy opening last night, with Sarah and Graham making out, and Rebecca and Justin walking in on Holly and David getting frisky on the sofa. In the words of Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda, cringe! After all that heat we got sobered up pretty quickly, when the votes come in and Robert suspends his campaign to become the Republican candidate for President. We then see a longer-haired Robert on our screens "3 months later".

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, "The Thin Line Between Chuck & Nate"

Last night's show marked the end of the first part of this series of Gossip Girl, as the writers went on strike and there was a massive gap in airdates in the US after this episode aired. So look out for minor changes in the cast's looks from the next episode - everyone needs to have their hair cut! All was well in last night's show – for one thing Chuck was back and we also got a good solid storyline for Blair and Serena's friendship, something that has been fairly lacking so far. Here's more of my thoughts:

While we may never know who Gossip Girl is, she's got spies everywhere! The episode kicked off when Serena's pretty private moment buying a pregnancy test ends up on the internet. Cue the rumour mill.
Dan's little sister Jenny broke our eardrums as she re-emerged on the show. I'm happy to say that her sassiness was mostly good this episode rather than horrible. So maybe there is hope yet that Jenny will be catty but cool.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 12 "Compromises"

Wow, lots happened in last night's episode of Brothers & Sisters. We didn't get any Justin or Tommy news but the rest of the Walkers were busy busy busy. Sarah and Kevin went out drinking while Kitty was playing step-mum to Robert's kids in Michigan and Rebecca was learning more about her mother and maybe-father David.

The karaoke bar scenes with Sarah and Kevin are great fun and a big highlight of the episode for me, but I also really enjoyed watching Kitty figure out how to be a step-mum to Robert's kids. There's also a couple of interesting kissy-kissies going on, but more of that later ...

Big Brother 9: Eviction 1 – Stephanie

So Stephanie McMichael is the first housemate to leave Big Brother 9.

She looked absolutely gutted as the results were read, and when she came out Davina McCall reminded her of her quest to become the most famous Big Brother UK contestant ever. I can't see that happening, but I have a feeling she'll pop up in the Sunday papers and some lads mags fairly soon.

You were torn between Stephanie and Mario to leave, do you think the right person was evicted? I was so frustrated by her during the relationship task and, although she explained to Davina that she was trying to cover the cracks in their differing stories by saying that she and Mario were having problems, it was a really bad tactic when you're trying to convince the house you're actually in love. We saw a lot of her pouting and being really difficult to work with for the other three housemates who were in on it.

Stephanie seemed shellshocked as she was interviewed in the studio, and didn't really give much insight into her time in the house. I do feel a little sorry for her, as she was kicked off Popstars: The Rivals for being too young and now she's the first to be booted off Big Brother. I wonder what she'll try next.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 12, "School Lies"

For me, last night's Gossip Girl was all about Blair-Chuck-Nate. That said, there are no complaints here about "School Lies" other than I'm not sure I like the characters that I'm supposed to. Check out Fab UK's fashion quiz on last night's episode. Now, here are my thoughts:

OK, so Nate's getting much hotter, right? I think it's the hair, or maybe Chace Crawford was filming this episode around the time that he started to become more famous in the US and that new-found confidence is showing up on screen. He actually had some personality this episode too – his character is about a billion times less spineless these days.
OMG Chuck's red striped swimming pool outfit made me so happy. Bless him. Except don't, because he's so evil! (Yet awesome.)
I went from not caring at all about the parent drama to almost liking it more than the stuff with the teens. Out of nowhere, the Bart-Lily-Rufus plot is the best thing about the show (don't worry, no spoilers until after the jump).
Still want their clothes, and their hair. Anyone else surprised that Serena went with a classic one-piece bathing suit for the illicit pool party?

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters 11, "The Missionary Imposition"

We had lots of relationship developments in last night's episode of Brothers & Sisters, with Jason returning to LA, Nora and Isaac's un-chaperoned date, Julia and Tommy's attempts to fix their relationship and Justin and Lena's complicated arrangement.

The episode started with Kitty on the phone to Nora, who is stressing because Isaac hasn't called. She turns up at his office to invite him for lunch, but as he's busy he invites her out to dinner. Yay! As she's trying on different dresses with Rebecca's help she delivers one of the best lines of the installment — as she tries on a too-small dress she says "These can't possibly be mine. How much weight can you lose in an hour and a half?". Heh.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 11, "Roman Holiday"

So just as we're heading into the summer, of course it's Christmas time on Gossip Girl. A whole lot of the plot was utterly unrealistic, but hey, that's why we love it, right? However, we do not love a distinct lack of Chuck. Here are my thoughts:

What's with the episodes with no Chuck at all? I guess his "presence" was there and we got the answer to where he went from the airport: Monaco. But – seriously – I want my Chuck Bass! I didn't miss Nate nearly as much.
Thankfully, Jenny wasn't in it much either. She is really annoying me now.
I thought the Blair/Dad/Dad's lover plot was sweet last night. But, since when has Mum Waldorf been a sympathetic character? I didn't think I would ever like the parents on this show but I have to admit I'm coming round to them all.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 10 "The Feast of Epiphany"

This week’s episode of Brothers & Sisters was all about whether or not you should tell the truth, even when the truth would hurt someone – a pretty appropriate topic for most of the Walkers really, and a fair few truths came out.

Nora arranged a big family dinner so that her children could chaperone her “date” with Isaac (loving Nora’s dating nerves!) and, as is the case whenever the family get together en masse, a few secrets were revealed. Julia dropped a bombshell, Justin had a little something to say to his siblings, Robert admitted his thoughts about the future to Kitty, and Kevin came clean with Scotty.

Pop Watch: Pushing Daisies, Episode 9 "Corpsicle"

After the short season of Dirty Sexy Money ended last week with episode 10, sadly this week's ninth episode of Pushing Daisies is also the season finale, due to all that striking the writers' did last year. But fear not, if you need another Daisies fix, those nice people at ITV have also decided to put the episode that they missed out (episode 2 aka "Dummy") online, so you can watch it here! But for now, here's my thoughts on last night's episode:

For its final episode this series, the show left on a high note – with a great balance between drama and giggle-inducing cleverness.
I was so happy to return to Young Ned's Play-Doh world. It set the tone perfectly for the episode, which was oh-so-cute and yet oh-so-heartstring-tugging — from the aunts comforting Ned and Chuck on the day they both lost their parents to Lily's drug-induced revelation at the end.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 9 "Holy Matrimony!"

Kitty's big day arrived at last on yesterday's episode of Brothers & Sisters, but as you would expect from the Walkers the wedding day wasn't all plain sailing. A couple of secrets were revealed to even more people, with Robert and Tommy set to face some serious challenges in upcoming episodes, and there was intrigue involving Holly.

Sarah was dateless at the ceremony (and amusingly annoyed at the lack of eligible bachelors!) but the other single Walkers each encountered problems with their dates. Kevin and Scotty bickered over Jason, Justin learnt the truth about Lena, and Nora was dumped by Stan at the reception following his incarceration alongside Tommy, Justin and Kevin! But more of that later...

Pop Watch: Pushing Daisies, Episode 8 " Bitter Sweets"

Wow, that was maybe the most jam-packed Pushing Daisies episode yet. Funny lady Molly Shannon turned up as the owner of a taffy business that was trying to steal the Pie Hole's customers, Ned solved a murder and ended up framed for another, and Olive had a new romantic opportunity — if only she could have recognised it. But my favourite thing about the episode was how much we learned about Ned. Here's some more of my thoughts:

The Young Ned flashback taught us that Ned doesn't retaliate against bullies, as well as reminding us that he has serious intimacy issues. The first came into play in the story with Dilly Balsam; the second put Ned's relationship with Chuck on the rocks when he had to decide whether to finally tell her the truth about her dad's death. I like this more brooding Ned.
The show got its first murder mystery of the night out of the way quickly (the Real Doll did it!), so we could focus on Dilly Balsam's Bittersweets Taffy and Sweets Emporium. The Taffy vs Pie scenes were some of my favourite from the show yet: Ned's sign getting changed to "Pie Ho," the health inspector discovering Ned's pantry of rotten fruit, and Chuck and Olive going all cat burglar on Bittersweets, sneaking in to deposit some rats in the taffy kitchen – "Don't mess with the pie hos!"
